The goal of creative development in the early childhood classroom is the exploration and expression of creativity. Children need the opportunity and freedom to explore various art materials, use their imaginations as they create their own art and share their creativity with others. This includes creative thinking and expression, creative movement and creative behavior. Creative development also encourages other skills such as eye-hand coordination, pincer-grasp control, self expression, communication, aesthetic awareness and the ability to visualize. Creative art experiences should be based upon activities that encourage divergence in the process and not necessarily the end product.
